Astronomy program set at wildlife refuge
OAK HARBOR – The public is invited to join amateur astronomer Tim Winship when he brings his telescope to Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, 14000 W. Ohio 2, at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9. Winship will observe the summer’s planets and moons, including Jupiter with its four Galilean moons, Saturn with its rings and multiple moons, and, in honor of Apollo 11’s moon landing 50 years ago — the Sea of Tranquility on Earth’s moon.
The program ends about 10 p.m. The public may bring telescopes as well to this free program. To register, call 419-898-0014.
City spraying for mosquitoes
FREMONT – The City of Fremont will be spraying for mosquitoes both July 30 in the Northwest and East Sections and July 31 in the Southwest Section.
If spraying cannot be completed in one night due to weather, all areas to be sprayed will be moved back one night. Those with breathing difficulties should remain indoors during spraying. For more information call the city at 419-334-5900.

Master Gardeners to present ‘Tree Care’ program
FREMONT – The Ottawa/Sandusky County Master Gardeners will host a community education program on “Tree Care & Installation” from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Sandusky County Extension Office, 2000 Countryside Lane.
The program will be presented by Karen Himelhan and Dave Sheibler from the landscape department at North Branch Nursery in Pemberville. Between them, they have over 35 years of landscape field. The public is invited to attend.
