NASA news: Watch the moment Space Station astronauts return to Earth in nail-biting video – Express.co.uk
NASA astronaut Nick Hague and colleagues returned to Earth today after spending an incredible 203 days on the International Space Station (ISS). Watch the intense moment of their landing here.
NASA astronaut Nick Hague, Russian cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin and Hazzaa Ali Almansoori from the United Arab Emirates landed safely in Kazakhstan today (October 3). The three astronauts plummeted towards the planet onboard a Russian Soyuz capsule, deorbiting from about 250 miles up in space. The astronauts were intercepted on the Kazakh steppes where they landed around 11.59am BST (6.59am EDT).
The incredible journey to Earth was broadcast live online by NASA and you can watch it above.
Mr Hague and Mr Ovchinin both joined the International Space Station (ISS) on March 14 this year.
The astronauts were accompanied on their journey to space by NASA astronaut Christina Koch, whose mission was extended by more than 100 days.
Mrs Koch is now well on her way to breaking the record for the longest spaceflight by a woman.

Asteroid fears: NASA’s last-ditch system in place for Earth impact
NASA said: “Koch remains aboard the orbiting laboratory for an extended mission that will provide researchers the opportunity to observe effects of long-duration spaceflight on a woman, in preparation for human missions to the Moon and Mars.
“She is expected to return to Earth in February 2020, almost a year after her launch.”
Together, Mr Hague and Mr Ovchinin have spent 203 days on the ISS.
During their mission, the astronauts orbited the Earth a total of 3,248 times and travelled more than 86 million miles.
Mr Almansoori, on the other hand, only visited the ISS for a very limited time.
The astronaut, the very fist to hail from the UAE, has spent a total of eight days on the ISS.
Almansoori made history as he became the first person from the UAE to fly in space
During his brief mission, he orbited the planet 128 times and covered 3.1 million miles.
Mr Almansoori joined the ISS on September 25 together with NASA astronaut Jessica Meir and Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kripochka.
NASA said: “Almansoori made history as he became the first person from the UAE to fly in space.”

All three astronauts received a medical checkup after landing and were flown away.
Mr Hague was taken by helicopter to Houston, Texas, while Mr Ovchinin and Mr Almansoori were flown to Star City, Russia.
NASA said: “The Expedition 60 crew contributed to hundreds of experiments in biology, biotechnology, physical science and Earth science, including investigations into devices that mimic the structure and function of human organs, free-flying robots, and an instrument to measure Earth’s distribution of carbon dioxide.
“Hague conducted three spacewalks during his mission, totalling 19 hours and 56 minutes.
“Ovchinin conducted one spacewalk lasting 6 hours and one minute.”
